Owl Applique!

I know.  I'm obsessed with owls. But seriously this was just too cute to pass up. I got some very plain matching jammies for the kiddos this Christmas and they just needed something.  So when I came across this owl applique at Amazing Mae, I just had to do it!  I made my own Santa hat and Mrs. Claus hat. It wasn't easy to sew around each little part, but I think it turned out ok.  I heart owls!

Crayon Initial for Teachers

Sorry I've been MIA for a while, but we've been having just too much fun this Christmas season!  I haven't had a minute to even think about this blog.  But I finally have a minute right now to tell you what Lady Loo and I made for her teacher this year.  I loved this idea from Testosterone Times Three.  It was so fun and took only 15 minutes.  I did the crayon breaking and gluing and Lady Loo did the placing.  We later put it in a frame to make it look a bit nicer.  It turned out pretty cute, don't you think?  I think her teacher kinda loved it.  We also gave her a gift card to a local coffee shop.  Merry Christmas everyone!  I'll be back after the holidays!

Apparently I'm stylin'!

My hilarious friend Joy gave me THIS...

How crazy is that?  I guess I must have good taste in blogs because all I do is copy other people!  SO all of you that I have copied, congrats...this award is for you!  But the condition of this award is to pay it forward to your top 8 favorite blogs.

Here are the official rules

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this.
2. Share 8 things about yourself.
3. Pay it forward to 8 bloggers that you have recently discovered
4. Contact those bloggers and tell them about their award.

Here my obscure facts are in no particular order...

1.  I met my husband when I was 15.  We started dating when I was 16.  We got married when I was 19.  Nope I'm not mormon...just really loved the guy!  BUT the thought of Lady Loo marrying at the age of 19 sends me into complete panic!  WHAT were we thinking?  It's been awesome...but wow.  19 is young.
Prom ages 18 and 17

2.  Once upon a time (actually it was just last March) I went to a silent auction and bid on the most amazing thing and WON!  What is it you ask?  Oh it's only a FREE any size, any kind of, drink EVERY Friday for a YEAR at one of my favorite coffee shops!!!!  I get a 24 oz. (yes they have that size and it's AMAZING) iced white mocha.  YUM!...

3.  Yet, my favorite coffee drink at at Starbucks is a vanilla latte.  Weird.  I'm an enigma I tell you.

4.  When I was in kindergarten, there were only six kids in my class.  It was a PUBLIC school.  And 1/3 of us had the same name.  I was part of that 1/3.   Not cool.

5.  My brother is quasi-famous.  He is in LA to be an actor and has been in a commercial, a movie, a disney show and a disney movie.  He supports himself by working at a coffee shop.  Lucky.
The Disney movie my bro was an extra in.  He said Billy Ray was a really nice guy.  He did not ask why he decided to keep his mullet for so long.  Mullets were never cool dude.

6.  One time I met Eric McCormack and he touched my back and called me sweetheart.  True story.  I have a picture with him, but I'm too lazy to go find it and scan it on.  You'll just have to trust me.  It happened.

7.  One of our kids came to us by birth and the other through domestic adoption.  Our adoption was amazing, but it's never all butterflies and rainbows.  Don't believe anyone when they say that.  It's messy because my gain was another's loss and there is no comfort in that.

8.  We don't have cable.  But we just watch our shows the next day on hulu.  Right now my favorite shows are in THIS order...1. Community, 2. Modern Family, 3. The Office, 4. 30 Rock, 5. Cougar Town, 6. Chuck, 7. Glee

AND NOW FOR THE TOP 8 BLOGS of 2010...According to ME!

She makes me laugh until I pee.  A lot.  You will understand what I mean if you go read her 8 things about her.  Grab a diaper before your read #3.  Seriously.  Also she sang at my wedding, so I like her a lot.  I have a hilarious video of her talking into the wedding camera.  She's always been funny...and stylish.

Oh my word...style?  These girls have style coming out of their...um...eyes.  They are beautiful talented girls and I want their wardrobe.  Most of it is made by them or from amazing sales.  Except their shoes.  They pay good money for SEXY shoes!

I love this girl.  She makes the cutest things.  I'm definitely going to steal copy that earmuff idea.  Super cute.

So stylish, just the like the name says.  I think I might have to try making that Winter Shirt Dress.  I like.

Everything about her blog is stylish.  I stole her idea for a dress and made almost the exact same one for my daughter.  She even e-mailed me to help me find the fabric.  She is so kind and funny and wow...I sound a little creepy and stalkerish.  I'm not.  I just like her blog that's all.  Promise.

I love her crafts so much.  Style galore!  Look at that cute kiss candy holder.  She comes up with the best ideas.  I am often sneaking over to her page for ideas.

You want style?  AMBER had style!  Just check out her tutorials.  She made all of those skirts and dresses.  Stylisious!  I love copying her style.

Did you know you can SPRAY PAINT SHOES???  Well Dana knew.  How cute are those orange shoes?  I copy her frequently.  I kinda want to steal the faux chenille baby blanket she made.  The jewel-toned argyle is so stylish.

SIGH...I'm DONE.  This took me like 3 days to do.  PHEW.  Blogging is exhausting.  Not really.  I'm sitting on my tush on my comfy couch listening to classical music coming from my husband's computer.  He's playing the game winterbells.  DO NOT google that sucker. It's addictive, but the music is nice.

Oh Boy Oh Boy hat!

Lucky you!  You get more creepy photos with my kid's face blocked!  Whoot!  I know you will have nightmares tonight...but at least you will have a cute hat to look at.  FYI...I told Mr. Man he could have a treat if he wore the hat...so he's grinning like crazy.  The boy loves some treats.  I'm a briber.  I admit it.  It's how I do things and it's working out well for me.

I got this hat tutorial from Delia Creates.  What a creative genius right?  I seriously love this hat!  I used a fun baby blue and brown plaid along with fleece underneath.  I got it all from JoAnne's.  I kinda love how it turned out.

Go check out the tutorial and make a lumberjack hat!  You will be so glad you did.  And so will your son...but only if you have some m&m's to go along with it.

Tutu cute!

I love this idea from Texas Monkey!  I got these cute leggings at Target and just spruced them up a bit.  Very easy and such a great idea.  I gave them to my bff along with this.  I think she liked them!

Wouldn't this be cute with red leggings and white tule for Christmas?  Make sure you check out the link not only for the tutorial, but also for the pictures.  These look SO much cuter on chubby baby legs than they do sitting on my back porch.

Circle skirt

I have GOT to hire a better photographer.  The enginerd is just not cutting it.  I know it's my fault for waiting until dusk but hey, it's dark at like 3:00 now!  Oh well.  You get the idea.  I have a new circle skirt!   It's super easy to make, but I made the elastic to big so I'm going to have to fix that.  Or give it to one of my prego bffs!  ;)  I love it though!  I'm loving navy blue lately.  It's my color of the month I guess.

So of course I got this awesome tutorial over at made.  I love that blog.  Make sure you follow the directions for the adult version at the bottom.  I bought too little of fabric at first because I am a skimmer.  One of these days I'll actually read the whole set of directions.  Maybe.  Ok that's all.  Have fun sewing something for you!

Happy Sunday!

Happy Sunday!  I know this is a craft blog, but I came across this amazing blog post yesterday that sums my thoughts up completely.  It is so well written.  I could have never written such and eloquent post, yet it's exactly how I fell.  If you'd like to take a peek...

My Turn!

I decided it was my turn for a new shirt.  I made this ruffled shirt using the tutorial from That's Sew Me.  It's even flattering on my chubbo bell-eh because it hides the muffin-top.

A muffin-top hiding shirt if you will.
 Always a crowd pleaser.

The strip down the middle on my shirt turned out a little wobbly, but I don't mind it that way.  I have such a HARD time sewing on jersey knit!  Anyway, now I'm working on a circle skirt for me.  Unfortunately for me I read the directions wrong and only got enough material for the child size one.  So I have to get some more material.  :)  It's kinda fun being selfish every once in a while and making something for moi.

So go ahead and make this.  It cost me $4 for the shirt which is a whole lot less than JCrew would charge me.

Trick or TREAT costumes!

This year I decided to do a Treat theme for costumes.  Lady Loo was a cupcake and Mr. Man was a chocolate chip cookie!  They LOVED them.  The cookie was my own "design".  I use that word loosely because frankly it was 2 big circles and 15 little circles cut out of brown and tan vinyl (that I had left over from this) and then hot glued on.  SUPER easy.

The cupcake was also easy and the tutorial is found at Lemon Tree Creations.  I LOVED how it turned out.  Also, I sprayed her hair pink to go with the "frosting".  So much fun.  I created a little cupcake bag to use while trick or treating.  It turned out ok for not having a pattern.  I really loved making these costumes and we are already trying to come up with something fun for next year!  Happy trick or treating everyone!

Christmas List

I'm visiting my family this weekend so no time to craft.  But they did ask me to make up a Christmas list.  This is the easiest way to do it.  I hope you all don't mind.  Plus I have some kind of wacky things on here...you might be interested in seeing my wish list.  If not, just ignore this post.

I was featured!!!

Hey, I was featured on Ruffles and Roses on Sunday!  Awesome!  Thanks Amber!!!  It was fun to see my tutorial pop up when I was looking through the new blog posts!

PS...If you haven't checked out her blog you should.  She has awesome tutorials!!!

Yummy Onesie

I found the CUTEST idea for a onesie.  Why is my mac saying onesie is spelled wrong?  For ONCE I'm RIGHT!!!  Whoot!  Me: 1 Mac: 0...well actually Mac: 694.  Whatever.  I BOUGHT the mac.  Anyway...

How much do you love this cupcake onesie over at Grace Violet?  I fell...head over heals.  Seriously so cute.  I had to make one for my bff's baby due in January.  I'm the kind of person who LOVES surprises so we didn't know the sex of our babes...but I gotta say, having friends who find out...it sure does make crafting and shopping SO MUCH easier!  My other bff isn't finding out so I still get to have a fun surprise in April.  But that means she's not getting anything until after the bebe`is here.

Want to see some photos even if they were taken at night with a flash and don't do the onesie justice?  Ok!

I decided that it needed some ruffles on the butt.  Probably because I wish I could wear butt ruffles all of the time.  Flat butts suck.

I wanted it all pink and white so I added some stitching to the "wrapper" part for some texture.  I love how that turned out!

I promise that it's just laying weird and not puckered because of stitching.  It actually turned out so well!  No seam ripping or anything!  Yeah!

FYI this took like 30 minutes.  I am positive you can do it too.  Go.  Now.  Make your bff a onesie for her baby due in January.  It's better than shopping for a gift online.  You owe it to her anyway...probably.  Just sayin'.

Not a craft...

This is a "not a craft" post.  I won't have many of these, but I thought you all might like to see how I use jewelry to decorate...and how I keep my jewelry from ending up all over our bedroom.  It has its own place!  I got this wall decoration at Pier 1 for super cheap.  I still don't know why it was on sale, but I don't care.  It serves its purpose perfectly.  It's not too tight against the wall, so I'm able to even hang my chunky bracelets (7 tries at spelling that stupid word before google helped me out...and it's spelled phonetically...sheesh) on it.  I hope you like this idea for using jewelry as decor!

No time to craft!

We have been busy around here and I haven't really had much of a chance to craft lately.  I remembered I made a bracelet cuff a while back and never posted about it.  I think I forgot and also I don't have fabulous pictures of it.  But the idea is awesome and it looks pretty on my dresser.  I got the idea from Disney again over at Ruffles and Stuff.  Her cuff is awesome while mine turned out mediocre.  But it was one of my first copycat crafts so hopefully I'm getting better at following directions!

Even if your cuff turns out mediocre like mine you can still use it for decoration or give it to your daughter for dress up!

Sorry about the horrible photos.  It's all I have right now.

Have fun making this and have a great weekend!
