Football season!

What does football season and crafts have to do with each other you ask?  Nothing!  But there is this tutorial here at Make and Takes.  Mr. Man needed a momma made craft right now because I was feeling guilty!!!  I like to be fair...like REALLY fair...like so fair people tell me that I have no grey...just black and white...but I haven't been fair with my crafts.  So it was HIS TURN darn it!

(Ignore the horrid hand stitched laces...I had to do it FAST because he wanted it now and I wasn't quite done!)

He woke up from his nap SO excited and yelled, "Fooball! Mine?  I do I do!" It made this moma's heart sing.

I love this sporty boy!

I know it's football season, but I know nothing about football.  It's a choice.  I choose to tune out any and all sports related talk.  This choice is serving me well.  But I will indeed choose a craft that relates to my son's love of sports.  That I will do.  Happy sports related crafting to you all!

LOOK!

I have a pretty new blog!!!  I'm so excited!  Bailey did such a wonderful job and it is just so me!  I will be adding a few things to the left about my family along with a couple of pictures.  I'm wary about my kids' photos being out there for all to see so I'm trying to find the perfect pics to put up.  Holy alliteration batman!  Anyway, thanks Bailey...It looks awesome!

Totally bow-dacious dude!

I recently decided to update one of our bathrooms.  It was hard.  It's the guest bathroom AND it's our kids' bathroom.  So I went back and forth between classy or cutesy...or cheap.  Cheap won out yet again!  So Wallyworld had this pretty shower curtain and I thought it was a good compromise between semi-pretty (it's wal-mart...nothing is classy) and cutesy.  Also I thought it would work for a boy/girl bathroom.  It's kinda pretty in person, but kinda ugly in this pic.

So I had this HORRIBLE wicker...yes wicker...shelf thing....

See it there behind my little old narcissistic self?  Sorry, this is the only photo I could find with the shelf in it.  PS...I hate that I took a pic of myself like a teenager...but when my husband takes pictures of me I look fat.  I swear he does it on purpose.

And I thought...hey, this would be ok if it matched!  WRONGO!  Still horrible.  So horrible it's in our garage to go to Goodwill.  I was even going to put fabric on the back (thus the hot glue and partial paint job) but it was just an all around abysmal failure.

Because no amount of paint will help ugly.

So then I remembered that I bookmarked a bow holder idea that might work in place of the shelf.  I was right.  Finally.  I found a frame at goodwill for $5.  It was painted gold.  Awesome.  And it looked something like this.  Only brighter yellow.

But with a little bit of blue spray paint...and an insane amount of luck (cars anyone?) it looks like this!

I had some bias tape that matched perfectly so I sewed on some lace and we stapled it to the back.
Even though I did the lace the other way, I like it sideways instead.
lace sewed to bias tape...works for me

See!  It really is bias tape!  It's the first time I used it and I didn't even use it the "right" way!

So very vinyl

I am starting to LOVE vinyl.  Especially since I have a cricut that can work it's magic on it.  I found this wonderful tutorial full of suggestions so very helpful.  I'm sure you will as well.

So here is what I did with all of that amazing info...

Doesn't my fleur de lis look pretty?
PS...I got the tray at goodwill and painted it and put down scrapbooking paper/modge podge!  Yeah!

Got this fabulous idea from House of Smiths...
BUT I didn't love the paper so I switched it to...

M is for MUCH better!

This is under a collection of our family pics

I got this bottle off of etsy and I added the fleur de lis to give it a little pizazz.

Ok this I didn't love.  I love the idea of it, but it was just too much so I took it off.

The kitchen/dining room is starting to come together!  So much work left to do...but better...thanks to these ideas from Imperfectly Beautiful and House of Smiths!

Mellow Yellow Necklace

I made this necklace for Lady Loo Who's first day of kindergarten.  I didn't cry.  I think the mellow yellow necklace cheered me up.

I got the idea here from Random Thoughts of a SUPERMOM.  I wish I were a supermom.  Something to aspire to I guess.  For now I'll be LAXIDASICALMOM or AVERAGEMOM. It makes me feel better to put those in caps.

Lady Loo at her desk in her mellow yellow necklace.

This is another craft you can do while watching a movie.  Or better yet while watching an all new Glee NEXT WEEK!  Have fun making some fab new necklaces.

I'm so green!

Nope not green with envy...green like...hey look she's not trashing the world God made for us!  I'm pretty sure that's what the Starbucks barista will be thinking when I pop this bad boy out of my purse and say, "No coffee sleeve for me...I made my own."  They won't call me a crunchy hippy...probably.  Call me crazy but I'm proud of my one good deed.  I'm pretty sure it makes up for the 3 months that Enginerd was away working and I kept all of the lights on in the house...all of the time.  Lights make me feel safe.

Excuse the imperfections...I did it in literally 15 minutes.

Other side.  Pretty pretty.  I love green.

I got the idea from House on Hill Road.  It's called a coffee cozy.  I love cozy things.  So if you have 15 minutes...go make one...and you too can be green like me.

Dresden is in Germany? I thought it was just a pattern.

I'm learning so much through blogging.  I think I get smarter the more I blog/read blogs.  It's true.  I'm a genius now.

Adrianna over at Crafterhours made gorgeous DRESDEN skirt that I just HAD to copy.

I love it so much I don't even want Lady Loo to wear it.

She is the kind of girl who just has to wear a skirt...while digging in the dirt for worms.  She will ruin this outfit in 30 seconds flat.  But I decided to let her wear it for her kindergarten orientation.  Yeah.  She spilled mac and cheese on it about a half a second after she put it on.  Why did I tell her to change BEFORE lunch?  We were in a hurry that's why.  How is it that we will probably be late for PM kinder?  Sheesh.
It's a little big, but it will be great next spring.

I also added some fabric flowers to a plain ($3) Wally-world T.
I got the idea over at Our Daily Chocolate
She also had one (that I glued onto a barrette) in her hair!

Can you tie it in a knot? Can you tie it in a bow?

Well I think it's time for some boy outfits.  Poor Mr. Man is getting the raw end of the deal, so it's his turn for some new studdly duds.  I love to applique because it's so easy, cheap and it looks like you bought it...
Skinny ties are so cool.

Won't this look great for Halloween?

If you want a quick applique tutorial her it is...
1. print out the pattern you want on cardstock and cut it out
2. stick the cardstock on iron on sticky paper from Joanne's and cut around it
3. peal off the back and stick it on your fabric and cut around it
4. peal off the cardstock and stick the fabric applique on the shirt
5. iron it on

I got the skinny tie download from Trey and Lucy.  I love how it turned out.
I got the fat tie idea from Crap I've Made.  I heart it.
